World Premiere: The Wellcraft 28 Series at boot Düsseldorf 2026

At the 2026 edition of boot Düsseldorf, Wellcraft expanded its performance-oriented portfolio with the world premiere of the Wellcraft 28 T-Top and the 28 Explorer. These models represent a strategic expansion of the brand’s offshore lineup, utilizing a common high-performance architecture while offering distinct deck configurations for varying maritime environments.

Engineering and Performance

Both the 28 T-Top and 28 Explorer are built upon a twin-stepped hull designed in collaboration with Navia, a specialist in hydrodynamics. This hull geometry is engineered to reduce drag, enabling a faster plane and increased fuel efficiency compared to traditional deep-V designs.

The construction employs W.I.S.E. (Wellcraft Infujection Structure Engineering) technology, a process where the hull and stringer system are infused as a single structural component. This results in a more rigid, lightweight vessel capable of handling the stresses of offshore transit.

Wellcraft 28 T-Top: Versatility in Open Water

The 28 T-Top is a center-console vessel designed for day-boat agility and offshore stability. A defining feature of this model is the choice between two windshield configurations: the Sport, featuring a lower profile for maximum airflow, and the High, providing an enclosed-style wrap for protection against spray during high-speed transit.

The cockpit is modular, offering four distinct layouts to suit the owner’s requirements:

  1. Lounge: Standard configuration with an L-shaped dinette and wet bar, accommodating up to 13 passengers.

  2. Barracuda: A fishing-focused layout equipped with a live well, fish box, and rod holders.

  3. Relax: Optimized for leisure with a large island sunpad and integrated storage.

  4. Sleeper: Features an aft sundeck that conceals a two-berth cabin.

The 28 Explorer shares the same 28-foot hull but introduces a protected helm station and an enclosed wheelhouse, positioning it as an all-season vessel. This model is weighted at approximately 3,197 kg (7,050 lbs), providing a more substantial footprint for coastal exploration.

While the 28 T-Top emphasizes open-air social spaces, the Explorer focuses on extended habitability. It includes a dedicated forward lounge with a table and a marine toilet located within the bow cabinet for privacy. The Sleeper layout comes standard on the Explorer, providing a 2+2 berthing arrangement, making it a viable option for weekend cruising.

Safety and Accessibility

True to Wellcraft’s offshore heritage, both models feature a closed transom and high bulwarks to ensure security in following seas. A starboard-side dive door is standard, facilitating easy water access and dockside boarding. The single-level walkaround deck ensures unobstructed movement from the bow lounge to the aft cockpit, even in challenging conditions.
